Contemporary kitchen design myths
So, what are the common myths that surround contemporary kitchen design? Well, there are several, including:
- All contemporary kitchens are glossy- while high gloss finishes are more common in contemporary kitchens than traditional or farmhouse kitchens, this does not mean that all contemporary kitchens must only use a high glass finish. In fact, a matt finish can be just as effective in any contemporary space. You could even consider mixing and matching to create a two tone finish, which can be very effective.
- Contemporary kitchens need to be open plan- contemporary kitchens have recently become synonymous with large, airy, open plan kitchens. But contemporary kitchen design is just as effective in small square or galley kitchens. And if you only have a small kitchen area, you can still create a stunning contemporary kitchen.
- Contemporary kitchen should be light or white- there is also a myth that contemporary kitchen spaces must use white kitchen cabinets, or at the very least, light colours. This is not the case. Contemporary kitchens can be stunning in darker colours too, including black, dark grey, and even dark blue. In fact, a matt black kitchen suite can create a stunning contemporary kitchen space.
