Hidden secrets for small kitchens

When it comes to your new kitchen, you need it to be both practical and stylish, whatever the size. For small fitted kitchens, it often feels like you have to make a lot of compromises to get to a finished result, that might not be what you expected. Here at Homematas, we are Preston’s leading kitchen experts. And we know how challenging it can be to design and install a small fitted kitchen that will be practical. But we do have some tricks up our sleeve. And this is our guide to hidden secrets for small kitchens.

Pull-out worksurfaces

One thing many small kitchens are lacking is usable workspace. And for that reason, a small, pull-out worksurface can be a great option. Positioned next to the sink or the oven for the ease of chopping produce, a pull-out worksurface can be a really good way to use the space. And as when it is not in use it is tucked away, and designed to look like the rest of the drawers in your kitchen, it can be very stylish and space saving.

Pull-out unit

At around 5 to 6 inches wide, pull-out larders can be fantastic storage solutions. In fact, these are probably the most common, hidden storage solution for small kitchens. With three of four tiers, and a wire shelving system, you can store your jars, condiments, tins or spices in a pull-out unit. This saves space in your other cupboards and makes your kitchen more practical. When not in use, again this item is disguised as part of the rest of your kitchen cabinets.

Pull-out bin

Fed up of tripping over the bin, or hitting it with the door? Well, how about a pull out bin? Using one of the bottom cupboards, a pull out bin can be a very effective use of space. Easy to clip and unclip to empty the bin, the pull out bin is a great option for small kitchens.
