Kitchen cabinet doors

The doors for your kitchen cabinets can be a more important choice than you might initially think. In fact, choosing the perfect material for your doors doesnt just help you to style your kitchen perfectly, but it also makes sure that they are as durable as you need them to be. Here at Homematas, we are Preston’s leading kitchen specialists. As a result, we have produced this guide to kitchen cabinet doors.

Post formed doors

These are made from large sheet of MDF or chipboard and are some of the most common and most affordable kitchen cabinet doors available. Once cut, the two long sides will be covered in foil. If you want all the sides covering in the same foil, to make them all the same colour, you need fully wrapped doors. These are the same in every way expect for the foil wrap.

Post formed doors are available in a variety of colour options and can have a range of finishes including foil, matt or glass. This makes them the perfect choice for both contemporary and traditional kitchens.

In addition, these doors have a wipe clean surface, which means they need very little maintenance, and are perfect for family kitchens.

Membrane pressed doors

Again these doors are made from MDF, but these are cut by a computer which means that detail can be added to the door. From tongue and groove styles to shaker styles, membrane pressed doors can suit a range of styles and themes.

Once they have been shaped, these doors have the foil applied on all sides. This means that they are still easy to clean and have a good amount of protection from moisture.

Solid timber doors

At the other end of the scale, solid timber doors can be very effective. Whatever style or shape you want for your cabinets, timber can be shaped easily to produce this. The timber will be stained and lacquered for protection and you will have fantastic, natural kitchen cabinet doors. These can be a fantastic choice for contemporary and traditional kitchens alike, and they are hard-wearing and durable.
